This is a day late but Happy Thanksgiving!!
This Brown Butter Pear Crisp is a fabulous dessert contribution for turkey day or all throughout the holidays. I know Thanksgiving is all about the pie, but I wanted to switch things up a bit and make a more nontraditional dessert. For once, I didn’t modify the recipe to make it more health conscious, I wanted to leave it just as is. I did substitute almond meal for the flour just because that is what I had on hand, and I used a bit less sugar.
I brought the crisp over to my friend’s place for a happy Friendsgiving with good food and good people. And trust me, there was pie.
After you peel and dice the pears, mix in lemon juice and vanilla. In a separate bowl, mix together sugars, flour (I used almond meal), cornstarch, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Sprinkle the sugar mix over the pears and toss until well combined.
Combine oats, flour, salt, cinnamon, and brown sugar in a large bowl. Pour browned butter goodness over the oat mixture and stir well. Add in remaining 2 tablespoons of cold butter until it becomes crumbly.
Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving!!
