Hi guys, I’m Alanna! I am a Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist in NYC who has a strong passion for (simple) cooking and food. I believe in eating real, wholesome foods as much as possible to reap the greatest benefits. It is so important to have a positive relationship with food, and I am here to help foster that relationship. I am a huge advocate for listening to your body and feeding it what it craves (this also goes for exercise). If something does not fulfill you, don’t force yourself to do it – do/eat something you enjoy. I don’t believe in giving up the foods you love or heavy dietary restrictions (unless necessary) and I don’t believe in diets as they are not successful in the long run. Everything in moderation to some degree (including exercise) and you won’t have to diet or calorie count.
I am supporter of local farmers markets and try to buy from them whenever possible. You will find me eating locally as often as possible! I am also an active member of the Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics.
I graduated with a BS in Nutrition/Dietetics from Marywood University in Scranton, PA (2010). By the end of summer after graduation, I left for New Orleans to start my journey to become an RD. I completed my dietetic internship from Tulane University. Living in NOLA for 10 months was quite possibly the best time of my life. The amazing friendships, culture and FOOD helped to hold a forever place in my heart.
Yoga and meditation have improved my life for the better and I try to practice both daily. I’ve completed 2 half marathons: Battleship North Carolina in Wilmington, NC and Shoreline Half Marathon in Ventura, CA.
Here you will find easy, healthy recipes with minimal ingredients and occasional food inspiration/discussion. If you are interested in nutrition counseling, please see the “work with me” page and contact information.
