I hope all of you got your fill of juicy, shirt-staining fruit at the farmer’s market this summer! Here in California, it seems like summer lasts forever…which is perfectly fine by me 😉 Although I have to say, I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of fall produce. Fall is simply the best. season. ever.
Last Sunday at the Mar Vista Farmer’s Market, I took advantage of the late season’s berries that were too pretty to pass up. It is amazing how vibrantly stunning the colors are. And the best part? All natural beauty – no artificial dye in these babies. As Dietitians, we like to say eat the colors of the rainbow because a diet filled with different colored (fresh/whole) foods means lots of antioxidants. Berries especially are filled with disease-fighting antioxidants that help keep your immune system chugging along. Just one cup a day may provide all of those powerful antioxidants that your body needs.
See you next time at the market!
